It took a long time, but I finally realized how important it is to have an outlet to express who I am. I have decided to develop this Web Site to allow people to check in with me. I started my Islamic sojourn at the tender age of 13. I started with the five percent nation, then the Nation of Islam, and finally to Islam in its pristine purity.
I am an American Muslim who is proud to be a Muslim and proud to be an American citizen. I believe and teach that truly following the example of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) means to be on the middle road—not too far to the right—not too far to the left. The middle road is the balanced road, the road that avoids extremes. My walk is a balanced walk down the middle road. When I am at speaking engagements, I am often asked why Muslim leaders are not speaking out against terrorism and the killing of innocents. I respond, “We have been speaking out, but the press is not interested in what we are saying. They are not interested in those of us who are not radical.” In light of today’s climate with all the Muslim bashing and Islamophobia, I make these statements: I, Imam Dr. Salahuddin M. Muhammad, declare my love and devotion to my country and my religion. I am committed to justice for all people, Muslim and non-Muslim alike. I stand, unwaveringly, against all of the extreme terrorist views that have been expressed in words or acts of violence by some misguided Muslims. This is because my religion teaches me to stand out firmly against injustice, even if it is against a near relative, or myself.  Therefore, in submission to my religion, I stand with my government (USA) in opposition to all acts of terrorism committed by Muslims, Non-Muslims, Americans, and foreigners, free or incarcerated. I intend to remain dedicated and committed inwardly and outwardly to the establishment of peace, security and justice for all people. I openly oppose any and all acts of terrorism and oppression, be it from inside the correctional facility, where I work, or outside in the Masjid that I lead. I repudiate and dissociate myself from any misguided fanatical or mentally unbalanced individuals or groups who commit or even simply plan such brutal and unIslamic acts. I refuse to allow my faith to be held hostage by the criminal actions of a tiny minority of brutal miscreants acting outside the pristine teachings of both the Noble Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah of my beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
